Hummus

When my friend Marie brought me in a Middle Eastern restaurant once (I forgot the name of the resto) and she insisted that I tried their "hummus". I was like, what is that? Vegetables? She said it was made from either chick peas or eggplant. I was really curious and I was glad I tasted it because I love the taste! Perhaps it was the texture or the nutty flavor, I really love it.

That's why when my friend who came from UAE (she worked there for a couple of years) told me she knows  how to make hummus from scratch, I immediately asked her to teach me how. I wasn't satisfied with the result but it tasted okay. I guess the restaurant have a different recipe, but here it goes.

All you need is to blend chick pea with lemon juice, olive oil, sesame oil, water (you can use the water from the chick pea. Season with sale and pepper. You can garnish with paprika and parsley. Easy right? And this is  the end result...

I didn't have pita bread when we made this and use flour tortillas instead. You can just heat it up for a few seconds and you are ready to eat! You guys should try this very simple dish and I'm sure you'll love it.

Keep on eating and blogging!!!

Asparagus with Oyster Soy Sauce

I'm a firm believer that food does not need to be complicated in order to taste great. Just a little things added to it and you'll be surprise on how its taste changes. Take this asparagus with soy sauce as an example. All I did is saute the asparagus with garlic and then add oyster soy sauce to it. It tastes wonderful to me. My cousin Kaye taught me how to do this a few years ago and I still remember how good it tastes. I guess it was because it was the first time I tasted asparagus and I was surprise that I actually like it. Try this dish and you'll like it as well....

Simplicity in cooking can really surprise you...

Asparagus Wrapped in Bacon

I saw this dish from "Everyday Italian" but of course I always forget how Giada did it. I'm not good at memorizing recipes but when I saw some Asparagus on the supermarket I know I have to try this out. This is actually very easy to do. All you have to do is blanched the Asparagus. Make sure that it is half cooked only. After that wrapped it in bacon and then you can either fry or grilled it.

This is a big surprise for me because it is so easy to do yet so delicious! Everybody love it at home and they love the combination of the bacon and asparagus. This is the second time I made this dish.

I have to be careful about wrapping the bacon though because it can easily seperated. Anyway, you can choose whatever type of bacon you prefer. I usually use those sweet tasting bacon because I like the taste better.

This dish just proves that delicious dishes doesn't need to be complicated.... (^_^)
